Senator Heineken Lokpobiri set to attend the Plenary Session of the 2024 Law Week of the Nigerian Bar Association, Yenagoa Branch.

The Honorable Minister of Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Ph.D has confirmed his availability to attend the Plenary Session of NBA Yenagoa Law Week which is scheduled to hold on Friday, the 28th of June, 2024 by 10am at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Senator Lokpobiri, a lawyer and the pioneer Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly was the Senator who represented Bayelsa West Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate between 2007-2015. Thereafter he was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as the Minister of State for Agriculture between 2015-2019. 

In 2023, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil) and is tasked with the burden of leading the transformation of that sector. 

Senator Lokpobiri before his stint in politics was an astute litigator and practised before Courts in Bayelsa and Delta States. 

The Plenary Session of NBA Yenagoa Law Week is famed for discussing topical issues affecting the legal profession. In 2021, the Plenary discussed  “Judicialization of Politics in Nigeria: Trends, Challenges and Opportunities”. 

In 2023, the topic at the Plenary Session was “Justice on the precipice?” and it called for self-introspection amongst stakeholders involved in the administration of justice. 

The 2024 Plenary Session promises to be intellectually stimulating and engaging in view of the topic of the discourse, “The legal profession in time of socio-economic uncertainty” which would be delivered by His Lordship, Hon. Justice Obande Festus Ogbuinya, Justice of Supreme Court, CON.

Justice Obande Festus Ogbuinya, JSC, CON has accepted the invitation by NBA Yenagoa Branch to deliver the keynote address at the Plenary Session scheduled to hold on Friday, the 28th of June, 2024 at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.  Hon.
